Dawei Arpon

Posted on January 6, 2023January 6, 2023

Have you ever been to Dawei? Dawei and Arpon (Apamu) are said to be inseparable like a sister. Arpon (Apamu) is not inseparable from Dawei, so much so that it can be said that if you come to Dawei and do not eat Apon, It should be said it is not worth coming to Dawei.

Arpon is a kind of snack or dessert. Arpon can be bought at many of the crowded places on the corner of Dawei and is usually open in the afternoon and evening. The crispy texture of the outer crust and the coconut milk inside is a perfect match. You eat just a slice of Arpon, this will be very satisfying.

The outer layer of Arpon is made with a proportionally mixed fluid of rice flour, egg, and milk. And the inner layer contains coconut milk. Put a spoon of fluid in an Arpon pot on the stove and roll them a circle into a pot shape. Then add coconut milk inside and put a charcoal clay pot on it. After a minute, remove the charcoal clay pot on it and you will have a crispy slice of Arpon.

Crispy and sweet Arpon (Apamu) is a favorite of Dawei people. For Dawei people away from their hometown, Arpon is the dessert always they have missed. When you arrive in Dawei, try the delicious Dawei Arpon (Apamu).
