Our country is rich in natural resources including ruby, sapphire, jade and pearl. Likely, we can discover natural bird nest drink in Myeik Islands, Tanintharyi Division which lie of the far south coast of Myanmar. Though we all know that things from vomiting are such gross, cooked bird nests give full of nutrients for human beings. Therefore, we keep them as an additional supplement in almost every house.

Swifltet (Burma name- Zewazoe)

The bird’s nest is made of only from one species of bird namely ‘the swifltet’. The swiftlets are also named as ‘air consumers’ as they hunt insects on their flight with the help of a very sharp vision. The swiftlets are mostly look like the swallows in characteristic but the formers have black back, grey belly and tough beak. Additionally, as they have sharp, long and attachable feet, their habitats are located on high edges of mountains.

As we generally know that bird nests are built by females, unlikely, the swiftlet build nests with love by secreting gummy saliva for the purpose of laying eggs by females. The males vomit gummy saliva from the salivary glands and build a cup-shaped nest to lay about two eggs. The females annually breed only for two times, in Tabaung and Takhoo. Once they breed, there is a pair of sex. They live in nest maternally and after that they leave.

When the saliva of swiftlets expose to air, it hardened into bird nest drink as we found on marketplace. There are two kinds in bird nest, white feathered bird nest and blacked feathered one. The white ones are more demand on marketplace as we prefer them. The bird nests are not easily produced. Sometimes, blood can be found in bird nest because of over vomiting. However, they are such a wealth for health of all human beings.

We have difficulties in finding those expensive natural bird nests. We need hunters who are specialist in swimming or hiking as the habitats of the swiftlets are located on islands or mountains surrounded by water. The hunters have to find with unite teamwork as there is a risk of death.

Nowadays, with modern technology, the bird nests can be manufactured by keeping them under high temperature to remove impurities. The pure bird nests are packed with various colors or names and distributing around the world. Bird nests can also improve international income as they are most demanding products from Myanmar to around the world.

What are the benefits of drinking ‘Bird Nest’ ?

Sialic acid in Bird Nest strengthens the nerves, clears the brain and refreshes the mind. It can be taken or drunk by all the people including youths as a nutritional supplement. Furthermore, it is still used as a dietary supplement at home to revitalize and activate things such as undernutrition when suffering from certain infections.

The Bird Nest also cleans the lungs and is suitable for people with chronic diseases by taking or drinking once a day. It has been a very frustrating time with severe cases of the CoronaVirus ( Covid-19 ) causing across the world.
